Ergocert Hellas S.A. as a Notified Body in the European Union for the Pressure Equipment Directive PED (Notified Body 2421) and Independent Inspection Body undertook the provision of inspection and certification services within the framework of the Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) expansion project at a HELLENiQ ENERGY refinery.
The project was critical for the refinery's operation because it prevents the release of hydrogen sulfide into the atmosphere and contributes to environmental compliance with legislation, while also converting an industrial waste into a marketable product (sulfur), ultimately contributing to the facility's more sustainable operation.
Compliance audits and inspection for the certification of the industrial equipment
Ergocert Hellas S.A., as an accredited inspection body undertook the audit for the certification of the industrial pressure equipment of the unit. Our services included:
- X-ray inspection of pipe welds and modified equipment
- Control of all pressure tests of the project systems
- Pressure testing of flanged valves according to ANSI B16.34 standard
- Inspection of alloy piping materials
- Inspection of installed pipeline welds
- Wall thickness measurements of pipes in installed alloy and carbon steel piping
