Legislative Framework

According to current legislation (FEK 439/B/2012, FEK 1565/B/2016), regular checks on the proper functioning of the gasoline vapor recovery system are required by an accredited inspection body such as Ergocert.

Frequency of Stage II Inspections

The check for the proper operation of the Stage II gasoline vapor recovery system is carried out at least once a year, in accordance with standard EN 16321-2:2013

However, in case an automatic monitoring system has been installed, the inspection shall be carried out at least once every three years.

Who is this service for

The certification of a Stage II recovery system applies to all existing and new fuel and energy supply stations where:

  • The actual or intended gasoline throughput is more than 500 m³ per year
  • The actual or intended gasoline throughput is more than 100 m³ per year and in addition, the station is located below permanent residential or work areas

Stage II Inspection Procedure

The inspection process for the Stage II system is includes:

  • Measuring the vapor recovery ratio (VRR), which shows whether vapors are being collected effectively
  • Checking the pressure and flow of the vapor return system
  • Checking for leaks and the physical condition of hoses, nozzles, and other components
  • Verifying the proper operation of the sensor or measuring system (where applicable)
  • Testing using the dry, wet A, or wet B methods in accordance with the requirements of the standard
