ISO 41001 Facility Management System

What is ISO 41001

ISO41001 is the international standard for Facility Management in organizations of all sizes and activities.

Facility Management has evolved into an independent and recognized market sector, responsible for managing an organization’s most important assets, its facilities. ISO 41001 certification provides the framework that connects all these factors, offering a common terminology and structure for measuring and evaluating Facility Management systems. In this way, effective collaboration between all parties involved is facilitated, errors are reduced, trust is strengthened and a climate of cooperation is cultivated that leads to optimal results.

Which organizations can adopt ISO 41001

ISO 41001 applies to any organization that wants to manage its facilities and infrastructure in a professional and efficient manner, regardless of its size or sector.

In addition, ISO 41001 follows the High Level Structure (Annex SL). Forming a standard with the High Level Structure helps align different ISO standards through a cross-standard structure. This facilitates its integration into an integrated Management System along with other standards such as ISO 9001 (Quality Management System)  and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety System).

Why you should get ISO 41001 certified

The implementation of ISO 41001 offers multiple benefits to organizations, including:

ISO 41001 Certification Process

The initial assessment for obtaining ISO 41001 certification is carried out through a structured and transparent two-stage process:

Initial Assessment: Stage I Audit

Review of the completeness and adequacy of the organization's documented Facility Management System

Initial Assessment: Stage II Audit

Review of the implementation and effectiveness of the management system. The audit examines all relevant information, performance targets, internal controls and processes, assessing the organization's full compliance with the selected ISO standard, and serves as the final step in achieving the organization's certification.

After a successfull evaluation, the company receives their ISO Certification, valid for 3 years.

Surveillance Audits

During the certificate's validity period, surveillance audits (2 in total) are conducted annually to confirm the seamless and continued implementation of the Management System.

Recertification is achieved by re-evaluating the Management System before the current certificate expires.
