
PED Welders Certification

Certification Scheme Description
The certification concerns the assessment of the qualifications of PED Welders for permanent welding tasks performed manually, mechanized, or using automatic machines, within the scope of constructing pressure equipment governed by Directive 2014/68/EU. The relevant welding processes and material groups are outlined in the European Standards EN ISO 9606-1 and EN ISO 9606-2, as well as the American Code ASME IX.
Prerequisites
The examination is conducted for individuals who meet at least one of the following conditions:
· A minimum of one year of work experience as a welder (relevant declaration according to Law 1599/1986 or certification from current or previous recipients of the candidate’s services)
· A valid welding license (electric welder or oxygen welder, Class A or B), or a Notification of the commencement of professional activity as an electric welder or oxygen welder
Examination Process
The examination process consists of a theoretical (multiple-choice questions) and a practical module (sample welding). The passing score for the theoretical part is 60%, while the practical part is a pass/fail exam.
The candidate must present an identification document and ensure they have the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the examination.
Completion of Examination and Certificate
After successfully completing both the theoretical and practical parts of the examination, the candidate will receive the PED Welder Certificate from Ergocert. The certification is valid for three (3) years.
